UNIT 2 - LESSON 1
Comparative and Superlative Adjectives
Making Comparisons

Comparatives and Superlatives are special forms of adjectives. They are used to compare two or more things. Almost all the time, comparatives are formed by adding "er" and superlatives are formed by adding "est" to adjectives.

Comparatives are used to compare two things; We  can use the word"than"
Example:

My car is smaller than my brother´s car.
The street is wider than the railroad.
The Carnival in Rio is larger than the New Orleans Carnival.

Superlatives are used to compare more than two things. We use the article "the" follow by the "est" adding form to the corresponding adjective.
Example:

That giant is the biggest all around the world.
It was the happiest week of my life.

Look at the following chart and consider each form to understand how to use comparatives and superlatives.

Notice that there are some adjectives which have an irregular form of comparatives and superlatives.
