Multidisciplinary Project




9th COURSE MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROJECT
TOPIC: SCHOOL GARDENS
                           

OBJECTIVES:
1.       To put in practice the theoretical knowledge about raised-bed gardening.
2.       To provide students practical experience of growing vegetables.
3.       To know the importance of healthy nutrition.
4.       To motivate team work
ACTIVITIES:
1.       Write an abstract about the work you have done in Checa and what you will do with the vegetables you are going to get the next days.
2.       Make them organize in groups and create a magazine or choose one of them to present as a final product. ( they already worked on that with Felipe Basantes )
3.       Make them choose 4 subjects to include them in the magazine. ( they have to write what they did with the teachers of each subject)
4.       The final product is going to be a digital magazine in English. It is up to the teacher if there is enough time to make them expose their work.
DATES:
Abstract: (activity 1) May 9th, (Friday) this activity they have to do it individually. handwritten not in computer
Group work: (activities 2 and 3) in the classroom May 13th.

Digital magazine: (activity 4) May 16th. We have to make them work fast because the vegetables will be ready to be sold, that´s the reason to do this until the next week.

SECOND TERM MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROJECT 
FOR 9th COURSE
TOPIC: Short-cycle crops and urban horticulture


OBJECTIVES:
1  .  To put in practice the theoretical knowledge about raised-bed gardening and urban
       horticulture and short-cycle crops. 
    .  To provide students practical experience of growing vegetables and legumes. 
    .  To know the importance of healthy nutrition. 
    .  To motivate team work. 
      
      ACTIVITIES: 
    
    .  Do a research about what urban horticulture and short-cycle crops are. 
    .  What are the benefits of urban horticulture and short-cycle crops? Explain them. 
    .  What are the necessary conditions for growing vegetables and legumes? 
    .  Do a research about Checa: 

        Location 
        Climate 
        Type of soil.
        Type of crops people from Checa produce.

    .  Write down 5 examples of vegetables and 5 examples of legumes with their characteristics that you think we consume daily.
